Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Praise be to Jesus Christ.
How was your week?
How are you spending the precious summer?
I hope you will enjoy the remaining summer.
Fireweed flowers are almost fully blossomed; it has been raining more and more. The end of summer may be near. We also see leaves changing in some trees. Perhaps fall has already started. We may need to prepare for a long winter as we remember how we spent our summer.
Alaskan summer is quite beautiful. When the sun shines on luscious green plants and trees, it is absolutely stunning. Outdoor activities and sunshine give us energy to endure a long cold winter. Various wild vegetation and fresh fish give us our winter food. I hope you will spend rest of summer creating happy memories.
We meet a happy person in the bible.
Who is the happiest woman in the bible?
It is Mary. There is one more: it is Eve.
Mary was happy because she did not have a daughter in law.
Eve was happy because she did not have a mother in law.
These appear to be a joke but there are realistic truths. ☺
But Mary was happy for another reason.
In today’s gospel, Elizabeth proclaims: “Blessed are you among women.” (Luke 1:42) “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:45)
Mary happily became Jesus’ mother.
Mary happily stood next to the salvation history.
Mary happily accepted the assumption to heaven.
Mary entered eternal happiness through the assumption
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary gives us hope and comfort.
Covid19 pandemic is on the rise again. The natural disasters threaten the world. Individually we suffer when we are infected and families also grieve. We can overcome the dark time through hope.
Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The assumption gives hope and motivation to those who pursue happiness. Despite various challenges and difficulties, we must find hope so that we may confidently and joyfully walk towards the path of happiness.
Let us meditate for a moment.
