Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity

Praise be to Jesus Christ!

Let us greet one another.  Please ensure you have eye contact and say “Praise be to Jesus Christ.”

Let us also try Daejeon Diocese’s greeting from last week: “Come to us, Holy Spirit” “Let us be renewed.”

How was your week?  Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.  We pray that Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit bless our families and community with love and unity.

Christians are baptized in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)  Through liturgy and prayer, we profess the Holy Trinity:

  • In the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Amen.
  • I baptize you in the name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen

The Christian faith is founded on the Holy Trinity: The whole history of salvation is identical with the history of the way and the means by which the one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, reveals himself to men and reconciles and unites with himself those who turn away from sin. (Catechism Chapter 1:234)

The Church describes the Holy Trinity in philosophical words: Essence, Substance, Nature, Personal, Hypostasis, and Relation.  God in essence is one.  In three individual substances: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Trinity has love relations.  Father gives completely to Son and Holy Spirit so they are one.  Son gives completely to Father and Holy Spirit so they are one.  Holy Spirit gives completely to Father and Son so they are one.

Our church community also reflects the three philosophical concepts:

The faith community in essence is one in God.  The faithful are an individual substances that performs various functions e.g. liturgical services, and volunteer in other smaller groups.  All members give completely through love relation as one community and live as the children of God.

Today is the Most Holy Trinity Sunday.  Through Father, Son, and Holy Spirit’s love and unity, let us build our families and community as one.

Let us meditate.
